Here is one smart use for your PreCYdent browser widget:

All commercial services for legal research (such as the big two you have heard of) charge you for visualizing and printing judicial opinions. These charges can really add up. At PreCYdent, all of these operations are completely free, just like doing research is. If you have found cases on another research service, you can still visualize and print the cases you select at PreCYdent, if we have it in our database.
It's simple:
  1. You make your queries on the commercial service of your choice;
  2. If you find a case of interest you copy the title of the selected case by dragging and clicking your mouse;
  3. You go to PreCYdent search bar in your browser and paste in the title of the selected case; and click the search icon or push enter.
  4. The PreCYdent widget will launch a query on our search engine and if we have it in our database, it will be ranked on the first page of results.
  5. You can then click on the case title to visualize the full text of the case, and you can print it or export it in pdf free of charge.
  6. If you want to go back to the commercial service site, simply click the Back button in your browser.

This way, you can keep using your preferred commercial service if you like, but save money by using PreCYdent for some of the most expensive operations.

PreCYdent thinks law should be free.
